PARENT INSTITUTE'S MISSION : The Parent Institute's mission is to help bring schools and parents together as partners in the education of their children. This is accomplished by providing a nine week parent training program at elementary, middle, and high school sites that promotes strong parental involvement in a child's education process at home and a working partnership between parents and schools.

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR'S JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Arts in the field of Counseling, Education, Public Administration, Psychology or related field. Consideration will be given to equivalent work experience in management, planning, training, teaching and group counseling in lieu of a B.A. degree. Work experience in teaching, supervision, marketing, program planning, public relations and management is preferred. Must have experience working with persons of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Bilingual preferred: fluent in speaking and writing English and Spanish.

JOB DUTIES: Reports directly to the Executive Director in terms of program management, administration and marketing. Identifies and secures the assigned number of schools per quarter, and meets with principals and other school personnel about date, time, space and all other details to prepare a successful Parent Institute program. Supervises recruiters and instructors, monitors their outreach to parents, class enrollment, attendance and graduation. Assists the Executive Director in maintaining accurate records, preparing class materials, hosting weekly meetings with facilitators and arranges the graduation ceremonies. Teaches the Parent training classes as needed and serves as parent counselor. Serves as a spokesperson for the Parent Institute.

This is accomplished by providing a Nine Week Parent Training Program at elementary, middle, and high school sites that promotes strong parental involvement in a child's education process at home and a working partnership between parents and schools.


EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor of Arts in the field of Counseling, Education, Public Administration, Psychology or related field.
  2. Consideration will be given to equivalent work experience in management, planning, training, teaching, and group counseling in lieu of a B.A. degree. 
  3. 4 - 5 years experience in program management and administration.
  4. Also, work experience in teaching, supervision, marketing and public relations is preferred.
  5. Must have experience working with persons of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
  6. Demonstrate analytic ability, knowledge of non-profit business management and communication skills.
  7. Demonstrate leadership skills.
  8. Bilingual preferred: fluent in speaking and writing English and Spanish. 

JOB DUTIES (Included but not limited to):

  1. Serves as the general office manager and reports directly to the Vice-President of Operations and the Vice-President of Program Development in terms of program management, administration and marketing,
  2. Identifies and secures the assigned number of schools per quarter,
  3. Meets with principals and other schools personnel about date, time, space and all other details to prepare a successful Parent Institute program, 
  4. Supervises recruiters and facilitators; monitors their outreach to parents, class enrollment, attendance retention and graduation, 
  5. Maintains accurate records, hosts weekly meetings with facilitators and arranges the graduation ceremonies,
  6. Teaches the parent training classes as needed,
  7. Serves as a spokesperson for the Parent Institute,
  8. Supervises, monitors and controls office budget,
  9. Coordinates and direct the parent training classes,
  10. Assists the Associate Directors in choosing host school sites and making necessary scheduling arrangements,
  11. Communicates regularly with host school staff (clusters, leaders, principals, administrators),
  12. Supervises outreach to parents including telephone and mail contacts,
  13. Hires and administers contracted facilitators and seminar leaders,
  14. Trains and monitors the progress of facilitators along with the Associate Directors by conducting weekly facilitator meetings,
  15. Supervises and sustains high enrollment and attendance,
  16. Plans and supervises the graduate ceremonies,
  17. Prepares correspondence related to the parenting classes.

POSITION:  SECRETARY

SECRETARY’S JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Full time / 40 hr. wk.

JOB DUTIES: (Included but no limited to)

  • Assist in maintenance of school rosters
  • Prepare graduation certificates and programs for schools
  • Answer telephones and record messages for all office personnel
