PIQE’s “Best Practice Model” has been expanded to ten states nationwide and Mexico City.
Three-Day Parent Engagement Strategies Seminar
PIQE provides a seminar to train teachers, administrators, and school staff in its own best practices so that they can take PIQE’s proven Nine-Week Parent Engagement in Education Program to their schools and communities. During these three-day intensive sessions, PIQE trains teachers to increase the effectiveness of parent involvement in their own educational system.
The program covers topics including culturally relevant parent recruitment strategies, the selection and training of recruiters, the selection and training of facilitators, how to develop curricula through effective communication with parents, and how to measure program outcomes.
Part of the program is devoted to training teachers and school administrators on how to be effective when dealing with parents from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. Contents of this training were designed in collaboration with the Stanford Research Institute (SRI), and include national research on parent involvement best practices. Topics include: obstacles to parent involvement, language and cultural differences, research supporting teachers’ efforts, and research supporting parents’ efforts.
This program provides ideal “do it yourself” parental engagement training in areas where PIQE does not have a presence. For more information contact Patricia Mayer-Ochoa, Vice President of Program Development at (619) 420-4499
Best Practices Model. A licensing Agreement.
The Best Practices Model is designed for school districts that wish to implement the entire PIQE experience, but are not located near a PIQE Regional Office. PIQE will provide training and dedicate ongoing support to a district for one entire year, including two onsite visits. Participants will receive PIQE’s parent training curriculum. Districts are able to modify and adjust the curriculum to meet local district needs.
In addition, the following services are provided:
PIQE Boot Camp
The staff of participating districts attend a week-long training in California where they receive in-depth training on best practices on how to increase effectiveness in parent involvement. Some strategies include: culturally-relevant parent recruitment methods, the selection and training of recruiters and facilitators, and orientation on PIQE curriculum and methodology. During this week, participating individuals accompany PIQE staff as they conduct a parent training class, facilitator meetings, recruitment training, and apply quality control protocols.
